Day 38 Pittsburgh to Chanute

The first flat day of riding and after massive thunderstorms last night the morning temperature was nice and cool. Bliss. Not much to see today apart from corn and wheat and that's the way it's going to be for the next couple of weeks. The town of Girard that we pazzed througn today had an interesting Vietnam war memorial with an original 'Huey' helicopter.

Miles today  64
Total          1802

  1. I have to say that the cycle path does look like the one in Spofforth and it is the apparent weight loss that I believe you are in the USA.Tell Greg that it would not be advisable to make a play for Clare - she is a very scary women!! Anyway well done with your voluntary work that looks horrendous for those people.Keep eating plenty of pies and look out for the Orchards in their caravan.Linda

  3. Will you be passing through Dodge City ? .... if so then we need to see a photo of The OK Corral. Did you know that apparently Wyatt Earp's family originated from Dudley, West Midlands. I wonder if he still had a Black Country accent ..... "Eeer, stick 'em oop yow cowboys !"

  4. Oh bugger, I've just remembered that the OK Corral was in Tombstone, Arizona. Never mind, Dodge City was always in the old cowboy movies so it must be famous for some other Wild West events. Did John Wayne live there ?
